Vietnam PM Okays USAID-Funded Project on Helping People with Disabilities

The Vietnamese prime minister has approved a project aimed at promoting the rights of persons with disabilities funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) worth $21 million, state media reported. The project will be implemented over five years by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in Thai Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, and Dong Nai province. The project aims to increase independent living and better integration for people with disabilities, while completing policy, law and carrying out support plans for them. In addition, the project is expected to improve therapy and rehabilitation services by mobilizing organizations and people with disabilities to develop, monitor, and evaluate policies and services.
