Vietnam Promotes Digital Transformation for Smart New Rural Areas in 2021-2025

Vietnam will foster digital transformation for rural areas nationwide, including extremely difficult communes in ethnic minority and mountainous regions, underprivileged communes in coastal areas and islands, and poor districts with the vision of becoming smart new rural areas in 2021-2025, state media reported.

Under the Prime Minister’s Decision 924/QD-TTg, the program sets a goal to promote digital technology applications in rural areas, such as handling procedures in cyberspace or raising the capacity of district-level agencies regarding social order and public administration.

It also targets that at least 70% of communes will have cooperatives and 70% of districts owing production linkage models associated with sales of key agricultural products, and 50% of linkage models will be attached to hi-tech-applied raw material areas.

Besides, the program strives to have at least 40% of the commune and district-levels units providing at least one essential service and collecting the people’s opinions through an online application. (Tin Tuc, Dang Cong San, Bao Chinh Phu, www.congluan.vn)
