Vietnam Province Oks VND378B Water Supply, Environment Project

Authorities of Vietnam’s central province of Quang Tri have approved a VND378 billion ($18.1 million) project on fresh water supply and environmental sanitation. The investment comes from official development assistance (ODA) loans, non-refundable aid from international organizations as well as the province’s reciprocal capital. The project will focus on building fresh water supply and drainage systems, environment sanitation, environmental education and protection. It will benefit 150,000 residents in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri town as well as Lao Bao and Cua Viet townships, especially the poor in local suburban areas. Vietnam targets to raise the rate of urban residents using clean water to 78% this year, from the current 76%. (vovnews.vn Mar 2, Cong An Nhan Dan – People’s Police Mar 2 p7)
