Vietnam Provincial Hospital Succeeds in 1st Kidney Transplant Case

The General Hospital in Vietnam’s northern province of Thai Nguyen has successfully conducted a kidney transplant for a twin, marking the first case of its kind in the province. The operation took place on Sept 30 with technical support from doctors at the central-level Military Hospital 103, continuing the trend of improving healthcare services at grassroots level to ease the overload in Vietnam’s big cities. Local media reported that the health of both the organ donor and the recipient is improving well following the four-hour operation. Currently, there are 13 hospitals in Vietnam approved to do organ transplant with the national coordination center for organ transplantation based in Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi.
