Vietnam Quang Nam Striving to Restore Biodiversity with Various Events

Vietnam’s central Quang Nam province is focusing on biodiversity restoration, with various forums and symposiums this year, in order to combine economic development with ecological environment protection, climate change response, and resource efficiency, local media reported.

In its economic development orientations, Quang Nam prioritizes the ecological industry, green tourism, and organic agriculture.

The provincial master plan for 2021-2030 with a vision towards 2050 mentions nature and biodiversity conservation. Accordingly, apart from circular economy, Quang Nam will work towards organic agriculture and sustainable forestry.

Thanks to its efforts, the province, home to seven nature reserves, was selected by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to host the National Biodiversity Restoration Year 2024.

The WWF has run six non-governmental projects related to biodiversity conservation, forest protection, and livelihood improvement in Quang Nam, with a total cost of more than VND95 billion ($3.7 million).
