Vietnam Ranks 8th for Students in U.S.: Education USA

The number of Vietnamese students studying in the U.S. for the 2012-2013 school year was 16,000, ranking Vietnam the 8th among the countries for the highest number of students there, the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City said. The figure rose 3.4% from the previous academic year, Consul General Rena Bitter said at the annual Vietnam – U.S. education exhibition in the city on May 30, adding that nearly 70% of the total students follow BA programs. The rising number of students results from better qualifications of Vietnamese pupils and their families’ financial capacity. In addition, there exists xenophilia among Vietnamese people who are fed up with their home country’s theoretical and propaganda education programs. Over the past years, more and more Vietnam’s universities cooperated with those in the U.S. to offer better education quality. (Nguoi Lao Dong – Laborer June 3 p2)
