Vietnam Re-exports 503 Containers of Scraps as of End-H1: Customs

Vietnam had re-exported 503 containers of scraps, which were declared on manifest as being ineligible for imports to the country, as of the end of June, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The figure included 289 containers of plastic scraps, 106 containers of paper scraps, 98 containers of steel scraps, and ten containers of other kinds. As of June 28, there were 12,272 containers of scraps abandoned at ports across Vietnam, including 7,450 containers staying over 90 days each, the department noted. The department said that it has urged local customs departments to force ship lines to transport abandoned goods at high risks of causing environmental pollution out of Vietnam.
