Vietnam Records 163.9K Dengue Fever Cases, 170.2K HFM Cases in 2023

Vietnam is estimated to have recorded more than 163,900 dengue fever cases (with 41 deaths) and 170,200 hand-foot-mouth cases (with 31 deaths) in 2023, according to the latest figures of the government-run General Statistics Office (GSO).

This year, the country is also likely to have logged 379 suspected measles cases, 487 viral encephalitis cases (with nine deaths), and 103 poisoning cases with 1,819 patients (with 23 deaths).

As of December 18, Vietnam had 234,200 people alive infected with HIV, while 114,200 people had been killed by HIV/AIDS, the GSO said.

Notably, Vietnam recorded over 11.6 million cases infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from January 23, 2020, to December 21, 2023. Of the figure, 10.6 million patients were discharged from hospitals and 43,200 others died of the disease.
