Vietnam Records 212 Cases of Zika Virus in 2016

Vietnam recorded 212 cases of Zika virus in 2016, according to the figures by Ministry of Health. The country has detected Zika infections in 11 localities. Especially, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 186 cases, following by Binh Duong, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai with 7,6, and 4 cases, respectively. In 2017, there will be more infected localities and cases. However, the ministry urged local people not to panic as most of the Zika infections in Vietnam have been in mild condition, and caused no casualties. According to the World Health Organization, Zika outbreaks have been reported in around 70 countries and territories. Currently there is no vaccine or specific medicine to treat the disease.
