Vietnam Records 4.1K Dengue Fever Cases, 12.2K HFM Cases in May: GSO

Vietnam is estimated to have recorded 4,110 dengue fever cases and 12,224 hand-foot-mouth (HFM) cases with three deaths in May, according to the latest figures from the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO). In the period, the country is likely to have recorded 62 suspected measles cases; 104 viral encephalitis cases; and ten poisoning cases with 329 patients, including one death. In the first five months of this year, Vietnam is estimated to have recorded 23,820 dengue fever cases with five deaths, 32,800 HFM cases with seven deaths, 249 viral encephalitis cases, and 235 suspected measles cases. The period also recorded 34 poisoning cases with 802 patients (with four deaths). As of May 18, Vietnam had 211,634 people infected with HIV, including 90,206 people entering AIDS stage, while 99,306 people had been killed by HIV/AIDS, the GSO said. Notably, Vietnam recorded 6,396 cases infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of 4:00 p.m. on May 28, 2,853 of them were discharged from hospitals, and 47 people died of the disease.
