Vietnam Records 4.1K Dengue Fever Cases, 2.9K HFM Cases in Jan: GSO

Vietnam is likely to have recorded 4,103 dengue fever cases and 2,901 hand-foot-mouth (HFM) cases in January, according to the latest figures from the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO). In the first month of this year, the country is estimated to have recorded 16 suspected measles cases; 12 viral encephalitis cases; and three food poisoning cases with 149 patients, including one death. As of January 18, Vietnam had 211,175 people infected with HIV, including 97,121 people entering AIDS stage, while 99,158 people had been killed by HIV/AIDS. Notably, Vietnam recorded 1,553 cases infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of 2:00 p.m. on January 28, 1,430 of them were discharged from hospitals and 35 people died of the disease, the GSO said.
