Vietnam Records 54 Deaths due to Natural Disasters, Fires in Jan-Apr: GSO

Vietnam recorded 54 deaths due to natural disasters and fires and explosions in the first four months of this year, according to the latest data from the General Statistics Office (GSO). Natural disasters killed ten people, injured 19 others, ruined 7,600 hectares of rice and other plants, and damaged 12,827 houses in the period. The total economic loss was estimated at VND194 billion ($8.33 million). Meanwhile, fires and explosions claimed the lives of 44 people, injured 74 others, and caused a total property loss of VND264 billion. (GSO, gso.gov.vn)
