Vietnam Records 96K Dengue Fever Cases, 11 Deaths YTD: Ministry

Vietnam has recorded over 96,000 dengue fever cases including 11 deaths since the beginning of 2019, up 3.2 times in the number of cases, according to the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, under the Ministry of Health. Ho Chi Minh City led the localities with 27,000 cases including five deaths, followed by central Khanh Hoa province with 6,800 cases and one death, southern Dong Nai province with 5,600 cases, and southern Binh Duong province with 5,000 cases and one death. The department released the information at a conference on dengue fever prevention and fighting in the southern region in 2019, which was held in Ho Chi Minh City last weekend. Earlier this month, the Preventive Health Department, under the ministry, said that 60 out of 63 localities in Vietnam had recorded dengue fever since early 2019.
