Vietnam Rescues 146 Wild Animals in Jan-Jul: Report

The Education for Nature-Vietnam (ENV), the first local non-governmental organization focused on the conservation of natural and the environment, and local authorities rescued 146 wild animals in the first seven months of this year, state media reported. The animals include langurs, tiger cats, turtles, monkeys, pangolins, and otters, among others, the ENV said. Since 2015, ENV has recorded over 13,766 violations in wildlife protection, the Phap Luat Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC Law) newspaper reported. Data from the Vietnam Association for Wildlife Conservation showed that from 2013 to 2017, Vietnam recorded over 1,500 crimes related to illegal wildlife trade. More than 41,300 animals and their products were seized, 1,461 law violators were discovered and 432 of them were tried criminally.
