Vietnam, Russia Intensify Educational Collaboration
A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son embarked on a visit to Russia on April 15-20 to enhance educational ties between Vietnam and Russia, local media reported.
On April 16, the delegation met with officials from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Both sides discussed finalizing and signing a new agreement on educational collaboration, expanding the activities of the Pushkin Institute in Vietnam, and developing partnerships between Vietnamese and Russian universities. They also agreed to promote cooperation among faculty members and research collaboration between the two countries.
Russia announced plans to provide several dozen full scholarships, including airfare and insurance, for Vietnamese students to study in fields such as science, technology, and information technology (IT) through selection in Olympic competitions.
Deputy Minister Son proposed initiatives to bolster cooperation, including promoting Russian higher education in Vietnamese high schools and focusing on training in engineering, arts, and other specialized fields where Russia excels. Vietnam also announced the allocation of 75 scholarships for Russian students to study in Vietnam in 2024.
On the same day, the Vietnamese delegation visited leading Russian universities, including the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" (HSE) and the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI). At HSE, cooperation agreements were signed between HSE and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. At MAI, discussions focused on enhancing engineering education for Vietnam. (Tin Tuc)
