Vietnam Sets 8 Targets for Vocational Training in 2021

The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET), under Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (MoLISA), has recently set eight targets for the sector in 2021, state media reported. First, the sector must follow the government’s dual target of combating COVID-19 pandemic and recovering and developing the socio-economy in the new situation. Second, the sector must update its legal framework for development, innovation, better labor productivity, reform of vocational training unit network, and others. Third, the sector must push the qualities of vocational training and career path guidance for learners. Fourth, the sector must boost vocational training for rural laborers and retraining for laborers, especially about working ethics and professionalism. Fifth, the sector must push applications of information technology to improve administrative procedures and digitalization within vocational training and autonomy for vocational training units. Sixth, the sector must enhance the qualities of supervising officials. Seventh, the sector must prepare for major events to promote vocational training, such as honoring outstanding vocational learners, national day of working skills (October 4), and others.
