Vietnam Sets Scale of Schools at 45 Classes Maximum

Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has set the upper limits of schools at 45 classes, per its Circular 13/2020/TT-BGDDT on facilities of preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, and multi-level schools, state media reported, adding that this circular will become effective on July 11. Limit for preschools is between nine and 20 classes, except for the lower limit of five for preschools at needy areas. Besides, the minimum average areas for one kid are 12 square meters (sqm) or 10 sqm for needy areas. Limit for primary schools (grade 1 to grade 5) is between 10 and 30 classes, except for the ones at needy areas with lower limit at five. The average area per pupil is 10 sqm for normal schools and eight sqm for school in needy areas or areas with limited lands. Limit for secondary schools (grade 6 to grade 9) is between eight and 45 classes, except for the ones at needy areas with lower limit at three classes at one or two campuses. The average area per pupil is 10 sqm for normal schools and eight sqm for school in needy areas or areas with limited lands. Limit for high schools (grade 10 to grade 12) is between 15 and 45 classes. The average area per pupil is 10 sqm. Limit for multi-level schools is between nine and 45 classes.
