Vietnam Shares Energy Efficiency Efforts Towards Asia Zero Emission Community

Vietnam outlined its contributions in efficient energy use toward a zero-emission Asia at the second Ministerial Conference of the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) in Jakarta on August 21, state media reported.

Mr. Pham Van Tan, Deputy Director of the Climate Change Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, confirmed that more than 80 projects have been identified for execution with Japan.

Japanese businesses and AZEC member countries will work with the Vietnamese Government and partners to carry out those projects in the time ahead, he noted.

In addition, Mr. Mac Quang Huy from Truong Thanh Vietnam Group JSC highlighted agreements signed at the conference to develop wind and solar energy projects, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects.

AZEC is part of the emissions reduction initiative first initiated by the Japanese Prime Minister at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, the UK. Its members consist of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
