Vietnam Shifts to Multi-dimensional Approach on Poverty Measurement

The PM has recently passed an overall project on “Shifting approach on poverty measurement from one-way direction to multi-dimension in the 2016-2020 period”. The fresh project mainly focuses on building poverty measurement criteria in the next five years. The new approach tracks three dimensions and ten indicators namely health (child mortality, nutrition), education (years of schooling, enrollment), and living standards (water, sanitation, electricity, cooking fuel, floor, assets). In addition, the project centers on building poverty line in the 2016-2020 period. (Chinhphu.vn Sept 16)
