Vietnam South Province Gives Infrastructure Support to Disadvantaged Communes

The program on boosting socio-economic development in extremely disadvantaged ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous communes (Program 135) is disbursing nearly VND47 billion to assist 29 communes in building basic infrastructure and enhancing production and increasing their income. According to the provincial Board of Ethnic Minorities, of the capital, the province puts aside nearly VND37 billion to upgrade constructions, including completing the rural traffic road systems serving production and people’s lives; the constructions serving cultural lives such as the communal radios, cultural houses; the medical and educational constructions; irrigation constructions, and small-scale infrastructure constructions suggested by communities which are suitable for ethnic minorities’ customs and practice. The rest VND10 billion will be spent supporting residents’ production and adding to other sources of loans for the poor’s agricultural and breeding production. In addition, the money will also be used to organize agricultural and fisheries production encouragement training courses for the poor to help them have higher knowledge on increasing domestic economic development. Son Tuoi, Deputy Head of the provincial Board of Ethnic Minorities, said that in 2014 and 2015, the province is building 101 infrastructure constructions in extremely disadvantaged communes with a total capital of nearly VND73 billion. So far, VND44 billion has been disbursed to complete 65 constructions and continue 18 ongoing others. (Dangcongsan.vn June 10)
