Vietnam Spends over $4B on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2016-2020: Ministry

Vietnam allocated VND93 trillion ($4.01 billion) for its National Targeted Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction 2016-2020 (NTP-SPR), according to the National Office for Poverty Reduction, under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (MoLISA). During the period, the country recorded a 1.43% drop in the number of poor households annually to the current rate of 2.75%. Notably, the number of impoverished families in poor districts fell by 5.3% each year to the existing rate of 24%. In 2021-2025, Vietnam targets a 0.75%-1.2% annual slump in the number of poor households in accordance with the multidimensional poverty benchmark. (Ha Noi Moi, hanoimoi.com.vn)
