Vietnam Spends VND7.35T on Improving 11,470 Classrooms in 2015-2020

Vietnam’s state budget has spent VND7.35 trillion ($315.62 million) on improving 11,740 classrooms at kindergartens and primary schools in 2015-2020, state media reported, adding that there are 90,000 classrooms from kindergartens to high schools needing improving after 2020. The National Assembly (NA)’s Committee on Culture, Education, Youth, and Children, hosted a conference on July 22 on implementation of the NA’s resolutions on reforming curriculum and textbooks. The event featured officials from the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), the Ministry of Finance, and the World Bank (WB). Besides, the MPI said that the state budget has spent VND34.8 trillion on improving education and training in 2015-2020, including VND8.9 trillion on general education. At the event, the WB briefed the successes of the Renovation of General Education Project (RGEP) in the last three years.
