Vietnam to Start $164M Japan-funded Transport Project in June

Vietnam will begin construction of the Mai Dich-Nam Thang Long viaduct project costing VND3.7 trillion ($164 million) with majority funded by the Japanese government in June, a representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board. The project with total length of 5.4 kilometers, including 4.7 km of viaduct is a part of Beltway No.3 in Hanoi. The four-lane viaduct is capable of handling vehicles travelling at speeds up to 100 km per hour, he noted. Its construction is slated for completion in 28 months. The Japanese government has provided JPY884.5 billion ($7.2 billion) in official development assistance (ODA) for transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam since 1994. With the figure, Japan, the bilateral biggest donor in Vietnam, remained the biggest ODA provider for the transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam over the past 20 years, the source noted.
