Vietnam Starts $110.6M Project to Develop Health System for Disadvantaged Areas

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) launched a kick-off conference in Hanoi on December 5 to start the first phase of a 110.6-million project to develop the health system for the disadvantaged areas, state media reported.

The total investment includes an $88.6 million loan from the ADB, $12 million from non-refundable fund, and $10 million from counterpart capital.

The project will be run in 16 provinces across the country, namely Tuyen Quang, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Nam, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, Soc Trang, and Ca Mau.

Deployed until 2025, it focuses on upgrading facilities, providing essential medical equipment and training to improve the quality of medical human resources, and supporting innovation in health services and financial mechanisms for grassroots healthcare, informed Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan.
