Vietnam to Strengthen Dissemination of Plastic Waste Prevention in 2021-2025

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has adopted the scheme on strengthening the dissemination of plastic waste prevention from 2021 to 2025, state media reported. The scheme aims to raise the awareness of the whole society in using and managing plastic wastes. Vietnam sets a goal to effectively implement its initiatives and commitments in handling and ensuring the prevention of plastic wastes from land and sea activities. The country strives to be a pioneer in the region in minimizing plastic waste discharged into the environment, the scheme noted. Under the scheme, citizens will be informed about the directions and policies of the Party and State in preventing plastic wastes, focusing on spreading information to the people in 28 coastal localities and densely populated areas. Besides, authorities need to provide information about plastic waste prevention to 100% of reporters and editors in the environment sector and 90% of laborers and students nationwide. Vietnam also encourages applying high technologies in producing, recycling, and fulfilling the legal frameworks for the development of green products, circular economy, green economy, and green growth.
