Vietnam, UNICEF Hold Conference on Promoting Digital Literacy Education

The Vietnam National Institute of Educational Sciences (VNES) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on December 28 held a virtual conference on digital literacy and transferable skills toward sustainable development across ASEAN, state media reported. The event featured representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), UNICEF, UNESCO, GNI Vietnam, and British Council Vietnam, and experts from the UK, Cambodia, Indonesia, the U.S., Malaysia, the Philippines, Finland, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia. Speaking at the event, Professor-Doctor Le Anh Vinh, deputy director of the VNES, stressed the need to equip needy skills for Vietnamese students to adapt to the development of the region. He hoped domestic and foreign participants to share experiences and opinions on fostering and improving teachers, training programs, and textbooks. Also at the conference, Ms. Le Lan Anh, the representative of the UNICEF Vietnam, affirmed that the UNICEF will join hands with the MoET to help all Vietnamese children have schooling, notably supporting children in vulnerable groups such as children with disabilities and children in remote areas.
