Vietnam Universities Cut down Enrolment Target in 2017

Vietnamese universities and colleges, managed by the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), are planning to grant admission to about 392,000 students in 2017, down 30,000 students from last year, even though the number of students registering to take the university entrance exam may be higher, state media reported. According to the MoET, students can register and apply for the universities and colleges they want from April 1. Bui Van Ga, deputy minister of the MoET, in a recent meeting said that nearly 955,000 students nationwide will participate in the national high school exam, which will be held from June 21 to June 24. According to the MoET, the number of candidates registered for the national exam last year was 900,000 students. Since 2015, high school graduation and university entrance exams have been combined into one national exam. The results of the national exam will be considered for both the high school graduation and university admissions. (giaoduc.net.vn Mar 27)
