Vietnam Vocational Training Directorate Lists 5 Key Targets for 2021

Officials of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET), under Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (MoLISA), listed five key targets of the sector in 2021, at an online meeting on February 23 with Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung. The five are (i) updating the legal framework and policies to boost vocational training, (ii) pushing recruitment and career guidance for learners, (iii) enhancing the state management on the sector, (iv) quickening digitalization for the sector, and (v) utilizing non-state resources better for the sector. The DVET listed some methods, such as following anti-COVID-19 guidelines, boosting vocational training for rural laborers and retraining laborers, focusing on promotion events and contests, and others. In 2021, the DVET set the target that the vocational training system would recruit 2.5 million people, including 260,000 into college-level courses, 340,000 into intermediate level courses, and 1.9 million into beginner-level courses and other courses.
