Vietnam Wins Six Gold Medals at Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad

Six Vietnamese students won six gold medals at the Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS) held in Singapore on May 26- 28, state media reported. The 10 contestants came from Hanoi-Amsterdam School for the Gifted, Archimedes Academy, Giang Vo, Phuong Mai, Nguyen Truong To and Le Quy Don basic general schools, and Doan Thi Diem primary school. The gold medalists were among ten Vietnamese candidates who competed at the event. The ten-member team was among 473 outstanding students who qualified for the first round of the contest. Last year, Vietnam also claimed gold medals at the prestigious contest, which is held annually by the Hwa Chong Academy in Singapore to generate greater interest in mathematics among pupils in primary schools and sharpening their problem-solving skills.
