Vietnamese Students Sustain High Australian Visa Approval amid Policy Shifts
Amidst shifts in immigration policies, Vietnamese students have managed to uphold notably high acceptance rates for their Australian visa applications, according to insights provided by the international education firm IDP.
Since the latter part of 2023, Australia has been implementing a series of measures aimed at tightening immigration, particularly affecting international students seeking entry for employment purposes. During this period, Australia's Ministry for Home Affairs reported a significant rise in visa rejections, with nearly 19% of student visa applications facing refusal, the highest rate observed in the past three years.
Contrastingly, Vietnamese students have demonstrated resilience in this challenging environment, with an average of approximately 84% of their visa applications being approved in the latter part of 2023. In comparison, approval rates were notably lower for students from other countries, with only 68% from India and 52% from Pakistan obtaining approval.
Lu Thi Hong Nham, director of the international education company Duc Anh, attributed the relatively higher acceptance rates among Vietnamese students to their genuine enthusiasm for studying abroad and their transparent academic and financial backgrounds.
