Vietnamese Universities Plunge in THE Asia Rankings 2024

Vietnamese universities have experienced a decline in rankings on the Asia University Rankings 2024 by the Times Higher Education (THE), with four out of six institutions dropping by over 100 positions, the local VnExpress International newspaper reported.

Leading the Vietnamese contingent is Ho Chi Minh City’s Ton Duc Thang University, which ranked at 193, marking a drop of more than 100 places compared to the previous year. Duy Tan University in Danang City followed, falling about 150 ranks to the 251-300 group.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, also saw declines, shifting from the 351-400 and 501-600 groups respectively to the 501-600 and 601+ categories.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hue University maintained their positions in the 501-600 and 601+ groups respectively.

Ho Chi Minh City Open University, although it submitted an application, has yet to be ranked.

The Asia University Rankings 2024 utilize the same 18 performance indicators as before, but they have been recalibrated to better align with the characteristics of institutions in Asia.
