Vinaconex Wins $11M Package of WB, JICA-funded Expressway

Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (HNX: VCG), known as Vinaconex, has won a VND245 billion ($11 million) package of the Danang - Quang Ngai expressway, funded by the World Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Under the package, Vinaconex will build, operate and maintain a transport management center, and build toll collection stations and toll collection management offices along the expressway, state media reported on Feb 8. Earlier, Vinaconex and its partners won four packages of the project, the source noted. The 140-km Danang-Quang Ngai expressway has total investment of $1.47 billion with majority of the sum coming from the JICA and the WB. As part of the North-South expressway project, the Danang-Quang Ngai Expressway will have six lanes. Its construction was kicked off in 2013 and is scheduled for completion in 2018.
