Wastewater Treatment Plant Opens in Hanoi

The Military Institute of Science and Technology, under the Ministry of National Defence, and relevant companies unveiled the first-in-Vietnam nanotechnology-based waste water treatment plant at the Thach That-Quoc Oai Industrial Park in Hanoi on August 8th. The plant, with total capacity of about 1,500 cubic metres per day, was studied and designed by the institute, in association with the Technological Application and Production Company (TECAPRO), and meets regulations on industrial waste water treatment by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. It is equipped with the nano-scale zero-valent iron (NZVI) technology – the latest tool for processing contaminated water – which can deodorize and detoxify toxic substances in industrial waste water before discharging it into the environment in an unmanned low-cost operation. It is expected this model will be soon replicated and applied in industrial parks and trade villages around the city in the coming time. (Quan Doi Nhan Dan –People’s Army Sept 9)
