WB to Finance Vietnam $210M for Urban Development, Climate Change Response

The World Bank (WB) will finance $210 million for a project on urban development and climate change response in three localities in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, local media reported. A WB delegation worked with authorities in the provinces of Kien Giang, Ca Mau, and Tra Vinh on November 22 on the project. The project aims to upgrade and develop urban areas in response to climate change, ease flooding in urban areas, and ensure transport connection between city centers and surrounding areas. In Kien Giang, the sub-project for Rach Gia city will focus on improving the environment and preventing flooding, enhancing urban connection, and increasing urban management responding to climate change. The WB officials asked authorities of the provinces to carefully consider proposals on components of the project. (Ministry of Construction, moc, kiengiang)
