WB to Help Vietnam HCMC Develop Roof-tile Solar Power

The World Bank (WB) will help Ho Chi Minh City develop roof-tile solar power by inspecting the potential for the installation of the roof-tile in buildings, local media reported. The information was released at a seminar co-hosted by the WB and the municipal Department of Industry and Trade on April 8. In April, the WB will work with the department to inspect the solar power potential of 150 buildings in the city, said Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong, deputy director of the department. According to WB’s report in 2017, the potential for solar power roof-tile of HCMC could reach about 6,300 MW. By the end of 2018, 906 households and firms installed solar power roof-tile with a total capacity of 10,382 kWp, up 52-fold compared to the figure of five years ago. Of which, some notable projects are located in the water treatment plant of Phu Dien Group, Schneider Electric Manufacturing Vietnam Co. Ltd, and Phu Tho Tourist Service JSC with the capacity of 980 kWp, 360 kWp, and 259.2 kWp, respectively. (Nguoi Lao Dong, thitruong.Nguoi Lao Dong)
