WB Okays $422M for Vietnam in Urban-Education Development

The World Bank Board of Executive Directors on July 1 approved financing for two projects worth $422 million in total to help Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long enhance resilience to climate change and improve the quality of three local national universities, local media cited press release of WB as saying. Specifically, the Vietnam University Development Project, financed through a $295 million credit, targets to improve teaching and research capacity at Vietnam National University-Hanoi, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, and the University of Danang. Meanwhile, the remaining capital will be allocated, through the Urban Development and Enhanced Climate Resilience Project, to build flood control and wastewater management systems and to develop key transport links.
