The H1N1 influenza pandemic is receiving unprecedented attention from media, the public, and governments. As such, The Ministry of Health China, WHO, The Lancet, and The Lancet Infectious Diseases have now joined forces to respond to this global health emergency.
The Ministry of Health China, with the support of WHO, has organised a conference entitled "International Symposium on Influenza Pandemic Response and Preparedness", to be held in Beijing, China on August 21-22, 2009. The meeting will provide valuable insight into the public health and operation strategies to prepare for further potential H1N1, H5N1, and seasonal influenza epidemics both globally and within the Asia-Pacific region.
