NGO Resource Centre Newsletter September 1-15, 2008

Dear MEMBERS and FRIENDS,

Welcome to the NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for September 1 – 15, 2008.

This week, the NGO RC would like to introduce the upcoming activities of a new initiative being launched through the centre - the ICT for Development Working Group (ICT4DEV WG). Having already developed a terms of reference (available at http://ngocentre.org.vn/node/7105), the group has been busy developing an activity plan for the rest of the year, which includes a series of workshops that will address various aspects of using ICT for development-related purposes. The workshops will be free and split into three different sections:

1. WEB 2.0
2. Communications Technology
3. Building websites

The workshops will commence in mid-October and will include subjects such as: how to use the Internet more pro-actively; communicating your news with a larger audience through social networks; using ICT to convey a more dynamic message and promote fund-raising; ICT in disaster management; collaborating and communicating more effectively with staff; using the Internet to collaborate and share ideas for a more effective work place; using free services to share calenders and email and create and distribute documents onlin; and building and developing websites on a budget.

To register your interest in the group, please contact the NGO RC ICT Advisor Paul Griffiths at [email protected]. Alternatively, visit the ICT4DEV WG website at http://ngocentre.org.vn/node/7105 or www.ngocentre.org.vn/ict4dev. There is one working group meeting coming up in September: the HIV/AIDS Technical Working Group will be held on September 17 from 14:00 – 16:00 (venue to be confirmed).

All the best from the NGO RC Team.
