Dear Colleague,

I would like to invite you to a workshop next Wednesday, August 1st, from 9:30am to 11:30am at the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre (www.ngocentre.org.vn<http://www.ngocentre.org.vn/>). The purpose of the workshop is to present and discuss the preliminary findings of my ongoing study on the impact of the decline in donor funding for HIV/AIDS on Vietnamese civil society organizations working in the HIV/AIDS sector. Data for this study were collected in Hanoi over the past 3 months, using in-depth interviews with staff from local civil society organizations, international NGOs, donors, and technical agencies.

During the workshop I will present my preliminary findings and facilitate group discussion on three topics: (1) likely impacts of the decline in donor funding on civil society organizations working in HIV/AIDS, (2) the differences between donor and local civil society approaches to dealing with the decline in funding, and (3) the significance of the HIV/AIDS sector for the development of Vietnamese civil society more broadly.

I look forward to sharing the findings of this study with you and hope that you will be able to participate and contribute your feedback. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to pass this invitation on to another member of your organization. The Center for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI) is helping coordinate logistics for the workshop. If possible, please confirm with Ms. Tran Thi Hue at SCDI by phone (04 357 20 689) or email (huetran at scdi.org.vn<mailto:huetran at scdi.org.vn>) by July 31st.

Best wishes,

Chris Pallas
