[Capacity Development] Capacity Development Working Group: Invitation to join core group

Dear Ian,

 

Greetings from MDF. A response, though not a direct answer to your request for support to the Capacity Development Working Group (to core group membership, and/or CSR subgroup). This week I just completed a training on “Domestic Support Raising”, in which CSR (NGO linkages with companies) is an important though not the only component (universities, government, general public and media are some other actors) – a course MDF developed in interaction with VSO in Indonesia. In other words: We could give input from that angle, e.g. to an upcoming event. So that just for information.

 

Besides that, I will ask my colleagues if there is a more general interest to join CDWG work (assuming that you would welcome MDF in spite of being a company; you may confirm this). Warm regards and a cold weekend, Diederik

Dear CDWG members,

Recently at the INGO Forum there was a lively and vibrant discussion about
the role of INGOs and VNGOs within civil society in Vietnam and how some
form of Code of Practice maybe a useful mechanism to help demonstrate
greater accountability and transparency. As the CDWG has held some previous
information sessions on these topics it was felt that this forum maybe a
useful place to continue these discussions.

Also over recent months the CDWG has been discussing greater cooperation
with the People's Participation Working Group, better linkages with NGOs
based outside of Hanoi and the establishment of a sub-group related to
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). To accomplish these we would very
much like to expand core group, as currently work is falling upon two or
three members, this is fine for organising quarterly information sharing
meetings but does not allow us the capacity to do activity over and above
this.

Thus, we would like to extend an invite to anyone who wishes to join the
core group. You will need to commit to attending a monthly meeting at the
NGO Resource Centre, (which you can also join by Skype), on the 3rd
Wednesday of each month and to allow sometime to follow up on actions and
help organise activities.

Mới đây tại Diễn đàn INGO đã diễn ra một cuộc thảo luận sôi nổi về vai trò
của các INGO và VNGO trong xã hội dân sự tại Việt Nam, và về việc Nguyên
tắc Thực hành tốt có thể là một cơ chế hữu ích như thế nào nhằm thể hiện
được tốt hơn trách nhiệm giải trình và tính minh bạch. Trước đây nhóm CDWG
đã tổ chức một số buổi trao đổi thông tin về các chủ đề này, vì vậy có lẽ
diễn đàn này sẽ là một nơi hữu ích để tiếp tục thảo luận.

Cũng trong thời gian qua, nhóm CDWG đã thảo luận về việc mở rộng hợp tác
với Nhóm công tác có sự tham gia của người dân, tăng cường liên kết với các
NGO bên ngoài Hà Nội và thành lập một nhóm chuyên đề về Trách nhiệm xã hội
của doanh nghiệp. Để đạt được những điều này, chúng tôi rất mong muốn mở
rộng nhóm nòng cốt vì hiện tại tất cả công việc đều do hai hoặc ba thành
viên đảm trách, do vậy khả năng của chúng tôi chỉ cho phép tổ chức các hội
thảo chia sẻ thông tin theo quý chứ không thể thực hiện thêm hoạt động nào
khác.

Vì vậy, chúng tôi muốn mời bất kỳ ai quan tâm gia nhập nhóm nòng cốt. Thành
viên nòng cốt phải tham dự buổi họp hàng tháng tại Trung tâm Dữ liệu các Tổ
chức Phi Chính phủ (có thể tham dự qua Skype) vào ngày thứ Tư thứ ba hàng
tháng và dành thời gian tiếp tục triển khai và tổ chức các hoạt động.
