Dear Colleagues,

1.As the 2015 target date for MDGs approaches engaged debate continues on the content and form of the post-2015 development agenda. The UN Secretary-General established the UN System Task Team on the Post 2015 UN Development Agenda to coordinate system wide preparations for a new development framework in consultation with all stakeholders.
This wide consultation process is carried out through national consultations in around 100 low- and middle-countries, 6 regional consultations and 11 global thematic consultations with topics that have been identified as being particularly important to the discussions: inequality, governance, health, environment, population dynamics, water, growth and development, conflict and fragility, food security and nutrition, education, and energy.
2.The Task Team for the Global Thematic Consultation on Health is co-led by WHO and UNICEF and selected governments (Botswana, Sweden) and stimulates the consultations with the following objectives:

- To stimulate wide-ranging discussion at global, regional and country levels on progress made and lessons learned from MDGs relating to health

- To discussion and develop a shared understanding among Member States, UN agencies, civil society and other stakeholders on the positioning of health in the post-2015 development

- To propose health goals and related targets and indicators for the post-2015 development agenda as well as approaches for implementation, measurement and monitoring
In early March the governments of Botswana and Sweden together with WHO and UNICEF will host a high-level dialogue on health in the post 2015 agenda. This meeting is the final step of the UN's global thematic consultation on health running since October 2012 and gathering through face-to-face and online consultations a broad range of stakeholders to review progress on the MDGs and to discuss the options for how health should feature in the post-2015 framework.

During this meeting, ministers of health and finance, members of the High-Level Panel on the Post-MDGs, leaders of international health institutions, representatives from civil society and the private sector, academics, and public health experts will wrap up the discussion and make recommendations to the High-Level Panel and the UN Secretary-General's report to the General Assembly

3.The Action for Global Health (AfGH) has been selected by WHO and UNICEF to lead one of the regional civil society consultations on health in the post-2015 development framework. AfGH will have a seat at the meeting in Botswana as one of the conveners of a CSO consultation on health in the post-MDGs during the GAVI Alliance Partners' Forum in Dar es Salaam in December 2013. It sees its role main role as communicating the messages that came out of that consultation, captured in the attached report. To take this opportunity for strong and inclusive CSO engagement in the deliberation of this important framework and contribution to during this key event, you are invited to send inputs on any further points, to complement the findings of the attached report, that you think need to be addressed during this meeting. AfGH commits to making comprehensive and inclusive recommendations based on your inputs to the consultation report.
