To: NGO Centre - Disability Working Group
Dear Working Group Coordinator
The Australian aid program has specific strategic goals that aim to ensure people with disability are included in, and benefit equally, from Australia's development assistance. This commitment is fully reflected in Australia Awards Scholarships. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) strives to ensure accessibility for people with disability throughout the scholarship process.
A Disability Review of the Australia Awards program in Vietnam is being carried out from 8-12 December. Through the review, DFAT is interested in understanding the extent to which its current disability policy and procedures for the Australia Awards Scholarships has influenced the experience of different program stakeholders, including organisations and individuals who work with people with disability, such as the members of the NGO Centre Disability Working Group. The input from these stakeholders will provide valuable insights on implementation and could lead to policy and procedural efficiencies.
The Disability Review Team consists of Victoria Kuczer, Finance Manager, DFAT On-Scholarship and Alumni Section, and Bethany Davies, DFAT Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant.
As part of the review, Review Team would like to meet with some members of the Disability Working Group on Monday 8 December at 14:30 at Australia Awards Vietnam Office, Room 502, A Building, 14-16 Ham Long, to exchange views on how the Australia Awards program might best meet the needs of Vietnamese people with disability.
The information collected and the findings of this review will be used to:

* inform ongoing policy development in Australia Awards Scholarships disability support

* identify possible improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of procedures for the provision of reasonable adjustments to awardees with disability

* fill gaps in the evidence base, particularly the outcomes achieved by supporting awardees with disability

* facilitate the ongoing inclusion of people with disabilities in the Australia Awards program

* enable high level engagement with awardees and alumni with disability, and

* enable high level reporting on the Australia Awards Scholarships contribution to disability inclusive development.
This information will be used for organisational learning and improvement. All views and experiences will help improve the experience of future applicants, awardees and other stakeholders in the future.
Please contact Ms Nguyen Xuan Hien, Scholarship Officer, at xuanhien.nguyen at australiaawardsvietnam.org<mailto:xuanhien.nguyen at australiaawardsvietnam.org> or on (04) 39393991 extension 102 to confirm your attendance at the meeting.

Yours sincerely
