*CRPD Committee 2016 elections- candidates' responses to IDA's
questionnaire*



The 2016 CRPD Committee elections are fast approaching - they will take
place on 14 June on the first day of the 9th Conference of States Parties

*2016 elections candidates*

There are nine posts to be filled by these elections and there are 18
official candidates.  Of those 18 candidates, 3 are women and 4 are current
members of the CRPD Committee (up for re-election).

Article 34(4) of the Convention requires that members are elected who have
high moral standing and recognised expertise with consideration being given
to equitable geographical distribution, representation of different legal
systems, balanced gender representation and participation of experts with
disabilities.

*IDA questionnaire*



In an effort to prepare and inform missions to the UN on the candidates'
expertise and experience ahead of the elections, IDA disseminated a
questionnaire to the candidates of the elections.  The received responses
have been posted on IDA's website at
http://internationaldisabilityalliance.org/en/article/crpd-committee-2016-elections


They will also shortly be posted at www.untbelections.org



Should any other candidates wish to send in their responses, they may do so
at their earliest convenience by replying to vlee at ida-secretariat.org
