[dmwg] Emergency meeting with DMWG members on Lao Cai flash flood (9.00AM, Sept 10, PACCOM office)

Dear DMWG members and colleagues,

Please see below an invitation from Mr. Dung, Designated Deputy Director General of PACCOM, to convene an emergency meeting with DMWG members and other stakeholders to discuss on relief and recovery measures for flash flood affected people in Can Ho A village, Ban Khoang commune, Sapa district, Lao Cai province.

Time: 9.00AM on Tuesday, September 10th 2013
Venue: Meeting Room Floor 3, PACCOM office. Address: No.105A, Quan Thanh, Ba Dinh, Hanoi

According to update report by Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee dated 6th September, the flash flood occurred during the night of 4th September and caused 11 loss of lives and missing, and 17 injured; 10 houses were totally destroyed and other 14 houses were damaged. It is estimated that  55 households with 267 individuals will need to be urgently relocated to safe areas as a result of the flash flood. Total damage by the flash flood was estimated at about VND 200 billion (or US$ 9.4 millions)

We would like to encourage DMWG members, especially agencies who are working in Lao Cai province to actively participate in the meeting tomorrow. You can contact Mr. Dung (PACCOM) at 0903291945 if you want to get more details about the update situation. He was travelling to Lao Cai during the weekend as well.

Dear các anh chị,
PACCOM nhận được báo cáo cập nhật của Lào Cai về tình hình lũ quét tại thôn Can Hồ A, xã Bản Khoang, huyện Sa Pa (xin xem báo cáo nhanh đính kèm).
Xét tính chất nghiêm trọng của đợt lũ quét này, PACCOM trân trọng triệu tập một cuộc họp với các thành viên DMWG và các tổ chức khác có quan tâm. Chi tiết như sau:

Nội dung: Bàn về biện pháp cứu trợ và phục hồi cho người dân bị ảnh hưởng bởi lũ quét tại Can Hồ A.
