Understanding ASEAN: The role of the AHA Centre

Join us on Thursday, October 12 at 15:00 BKK/JKT, 10:00 GVA for ICVA’s first webinar in a new series aimed at Understanding Regional Humanitarian Actors - Understanding ASEAN: The role of the AHA Centre.

The webinar will be an opportunity to discuss and share with members and NGO partners the operations and structure of the AHA Centre (ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management), the opportunities for partnership between NGOs and the AHA Centre and perspectives on how this type of model is helping to better engage multiple stakeholders in the region and globally.

This webinar will be an opportunity for ICVA’s NGO members and partners to improve their understanding about:

  1.  Operations and structure of the AHA Centre, and ASEAN more broadly, in relation to disaster management in ASEAN Region.
  2.  How NGOs can better align their work with ASEAN Work Plans and AHA Centre programmes to strengthen their engagement in the region.
  3.  Opportunities for stronger cooperation between NGOs and the AHA Centre/ASEAN in response to changes in the humanitarian landscape.
  4.  Perspectives on how regional leadership helps NGOs and other stakeholders engage in humanitarian action in the region and globally.

Audience: The event is particularly targeted to those working in international and national NGOs engaged in humanitarian action, who are seeking for a stronger understanding of the role of regional humanitarian actors. The event is open to the public.
Focus: To provide NGOs and partners with a general understanding of the role of ASEAN and The AHA Centre in disaster management, and what this role means to NGOs.
Format: Introductory presentations, followed by moderated Q&A discussion (with audience participation via online submission of questions).
