<P class=blue><STRONG>IOM Special Screening - “We Don’t Cry”</STRONG></P>
<P> </P>
<P>AIDF are pleased to announce that we will be screening the IOM film, ”We Don’t Cry” at AIDF Asia-Pacific on Wednesday 30th January 2013, 12:45 -13:15. This short film will show resettlement of the 100,000th refugee from camps on the Thailand/Myanmar border. Most have migrated to the United States in order to give their children future opportunities. They are given an array of knowledge from how to use electrical and running water facilities, to learning English and looking for a job in preparation for their new lives, ensuring that they are sufficiently equipped for this life changing experience.</P>

<P><BR>Information technology (IT) and telecommunications vital to humanitarian emergency response are characterised by their increasingly rapid pace of change. Is the IT emergency response community able to evolve and adapt as quickly as the sector in which it operates?</P>
<P> </P>
<P>At AIDF 2012, a panel of experts from humanitarian, government and private sector organizations, agreed on seven key lessons that must be learned by the IT emergency community in order for it to develop, advance and save more lives.<BR>Spanning IT innovation, new technologies, resource-sharing, social media and user-education, have these lessons learned now become lessons implemented? Has the humanitarian IT community walked the talk?</P>

<P>In this session these topics will be addressed once again. Panellists will engage in open and candid discussion about what advancements have been made, as well as what still needs to be improved on within this essential sector of humanitarian response.</P>
