[ingodirectors] New Announcement of INGO Representative to CCM of GFATM

Dear INGO colleagues:

Please join me in congratulating Mr. Matthew Tiedemann, Country Director 
for Pact in Vietnam, on his appointment as a new INGO representative to 
the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) of the Global Fund to Fight 
AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).

Following an unexpected departure of the previous INGO Representative at 
CCM, Ms Yasmin Madan from Population Services International, the 
Steering Committee of the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre made a decision to 
appoint the nominee with the second-highest number of votes, as per the 
elections conducted last month.

On behalf of my team, I wish Matthew a successful tenure in this role. 
As a reminder, Matthew has been Country Director for Pact in Vietnam 
since 2010, overseeing one of the largest non-governmental projects 
under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) agreement, 
funded by USAID. Since 2005 this project, valued at US$44.4 million, has 
provided grants, technical assistance and capacity building to 36 
organisations working on the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS 
in Vietnam. In addition, Pact has provided capacity-strengthening 
services to the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations 
(VUSTA) to support them in preparing for their role in the Round 9 
Global Fund proposal and has conducted a capacity-building workshop for 
the Vietnam Administration for HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC), also in 
preparation for Round 9. In his previous position as Country Director 
for Pact Malawi, Matthew oversaw a USAID-funded project, which helped in 
establishing the country’s first independent CCM secretariat.

I would also like to use this opportunity to wish Yasmin the best of 
luck in her new post with PSI. Although she did not have the chance to 
exercise her role as CCM Representative, it has been a pleasure working 
with her in many other ways, most notably in her role as a member of the 
VUFO-NGO Resource Centre's Steering Committee.
