[ingodirectors] Announcement of INGO Representative to CCM of GFATM

Dear INGO colleagues,

Please join me in congratulating Mr. Gary West, Country Director at FHI 360
in Vietnam, on his appointment as a new INGO representative to the Country
Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis
and Malaria (GFATM).

Gary has served as the Country Director for Family Health International 360
in Vietnam since late 2012. He has more than 40 years' experience in public
health program management and research, with many years' experience in Asia
and Africa. He has designed and managed many public health programs
including HIV/AIDS, cholera, vaccine preventable diseases and other issues.
In Asia, Gary worked in Bangladesh, India, Laos, Nepal, Papua New Guinea
and the Philippines. He first came to Vietnam in 1997 to develop plans for
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and to consult the Vietnam
Ministry of Health, for which he was awarded the Medal for the People’s
Health. More recently Gary supervised programs and research in Vietnam from
the position of FHI 360 Senior Vice President. Since 1998 FHI 360 has been
one of the leading INGOs, supporting HIV/AIDS work, Maternal Child Health,
family planning and other public health issues in Vietnam.

Following our recent call for nominations only one candidacy has been
confirmed, therefore the Steering Committee of the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre
approved this appointment without elections.
