[ingodirectors] ELECTIONS: Representatives for VDPF and NGORC Steering Committee

Dear INGO directors:

We have received nominations for nine candidates to be elected as [1] 
INGO representatives at the Vietnam Development Partnership Forum (VDPF) 
and [2] Steering Committee of the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre (NGORC). Six 
candidates meet all the criteria and they accepted their candidacies. 
Three of them have been nominated for both functions. You are allowed to 
elect the same person for both functions.

Kindly cast your electronic votes, following these instructions:

1. VDPF Representatives – Please elect TWO (2) names from the following 
list:
Filip Graovac, ADRA
Jonathon Guthrie, NPA
Deborah Leaver, ChildFund
Nguyen Thi Bich Hang, MSI
Dorothy Leab, AMP
Thao Griffiths, IC-VVAF (re-election)

2. NGORC Steering Committee – Please elect ONE (1) name from the 
following list:
Filip Graovac, ADRA
Jonathon Guthrie, NPA
Dorothy Leab, AMP

Kindly email your elected names to <director at ngocentre.org.vn> by the 
end of this week, 20 April 2014. As a reminder, you can vote for the 
same person for two different functions. We need clearly stated names 
for: 2 VDPF representatives + 1 Steering Committee member. If you do not 
know any of the nominated candidates, I suggest that you base your votes 
on the organisation they represent and/or consult the following short 
biographies:

Filip Graovac has been Country Director for the Adventist Development 
and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Vietnam since mid-2012. Before assuming his 
current position he worked with policy makers and humanitarian affairs 
in the US, Jordan, Yemen and Lebanon. Filip has two masters degrees in 
Community and International Development and Philosophy of Religion with 
a focus on peace and conflict resolution and mediation. He has served as 
a development liaison with various Governments, donor agencies and 
multilateral institutions. His personal strengths include analytical 
thinking, management and problem solving, excellent communication skills 
and the ability to engage in dialogue with government officials and 
establish valuable interpersonal relationships through networking.

Jonathon Guthrie has been Country Director for Norwegian People's Aid 
(NPA) since April 2010. NPA's portfolio in Vietnam includes a mine 
action projects, supporting capacity building under Restoring the 
Environment and Neutralizing the Effects of the War (RENEW), support and 
capacity building for the the Vietnam Bomb and Mine clearance Action 
Centre (VBMAC), support of the Social Policy Ecology Research Institute 
(SPERI) in their national resource management research projects and 
support to the Institute for Studies of Social, Economy and Environment 
within civil society research. Prior to moving to Vietnam, Jonathon was 
Country Programme Manager for NPA Georgia and Country Operations Manager 
for a private explosive ordinance clearance company in Lao PDR.

Deborah Leaver has been Country Director for ChildFund Vietnam since 
2010 and has worked extensively in South East Asia since 2000. Prior to 
working for ChildFund Vietnam, Deborah spent five years as Country 
Director and International Director for Action Aid, specialising in 
international emergencies, conflicts, protection and strengthening of 
civil society. Deborah has significant experience working in conflict 
and emergencies, including response to the South Asia 2004 tsunami, 
Pakistan earthquake in 2005, Cyclone Nargis in 2008 and ongoing work in 
the occupied Palestinian Territories and Gaza. Deborah has managed a 
range of programs in indigenous Australia, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. 
She holds Bachelor degrees in Arts and Commerce and a Masters Degree in 
International Development.

Hang Thi Bich Nguyen has been Country Representative for Marie Stopes 
International in Vietnam (MSIVN) since 1998. MSIVN is a UK-based INGO 
specialising in sexual and reproductive health. Previously Hang was 
Chief Representative for Prieure Ltd and she also worked for the Vietnam 
Ministries of Health and Construction. She has significant experience in 
delivering sexual and reproductive health projects to under-served 
communities in Vietnam, including poor women and men, adolescents and 
youths, migrant workers, ethnic minorities, commercial sex workers and 
intravenous drug users. Hang is responsible for a range of programs 
working with both public and private sector healthcare providers. She 
holds Bachelors degrees in English and Law, and a Masters in Business 
Administration from the University of Hawaii.

Dorothy Leab has been Country Director for Agence de Medecine Preventive 
(AMP) in Vietnam since November 2010. She has over 19 years of 
experience in international development and management in Africa and 
Asia. She is involved in supporting operational research, health policy 
and services, advocacy and human resources for health in Vietnam. 
Dorothy has developed a portfolio of nine projects during the last three 
years. She has a Masters Degree in Organization Science.

Thao Griffiths has been Country Director for the International Center - 
Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (IC-VVAF) since 2007. VVAF is 
involved in addressing the consequences of war through surveys, 
advocacy, landmine clearance and upgrading and constructing schools in 
various provinces around Vietnam. Thao holds masters degrees in Systems 
Engineering and in International Relations. She has 14 years of 
experience in humanitarian mine action, public health, development, 
energy and climate change and IT-related business. Previously Thao has 
worked on a number of internationally funded poverty reduction programs. 
If elected this would be her second term as an INGO representatives at 
the Vietnam Development Partnership Forum.
