[ingodirectors] URGENT: Joint INGO Statement regarding confrontation in the East Sea / South China Sea

Dear colleagues and friends,

In consultations with the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre Steering Committee, we
have prepared a statement on behalf of foreign NGOs in Vietnam. The
Statement has been drafted in response to recent escalation of conflicts in
the East Sea / South China Sea that raised concerns among development
organisations in Vietnam. A number of INGOs have already endorsed the
Statement, while some others are consulting their regional offices and
headquarters before confirming their endorsements. The Steering Committee
has shared the Statement with our partners at PACCOM and they kindly asked
that we finalise it before the information sharing session, which is
organised by VUFO tomorrow, Tuesday 13 May 2014, at 8:30 AM, at the
Friendship House, Floor 2A, 105A Quan Thanh in Hanoi.

Please see the attached Statement and confirm if your organisation would
like to endorse it. Kindly respond to Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao, Country
Director at ActionAid Vietnam, also member of the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre
Steering Committee. Please email Thao at <thao.hoangphuong at actionaid.org>
before the end of today, Monday 12 May 2014. We need to finalise the
Statement and it will be circulated tomorrow for public support. Thao has
been assigned as the focal point for consolidating your endorsements, as I
am currently travelling in Europe.
